It was like a second that felt longer, a moment that triggered something in his brain and a sensation that he found out meant a great deal more then the horseplay that day. He slipped into the water where several friends and relatives played. There were others who surrounded the barbque or beer cooler nearby. The family event had expanded to neighbors and other friends. He felt free, lost in the anonymity of the crowds of people.

They sat on his bed talking about his parents the gathering, some of his cousins and the football game we had just played. The tragedy of my parents death was unreal especially after I moved in with his family. The surroundings werent my home so the horror of loosing them wasnt as painful.
